This poignant, irreverent guide is doggone funny. What reviewers are saying...
For what it's worth, I think it's an excellent book. I've never seen anything quite like it. It is extremely thorough and covers an interesting and unique array of questions that pop up when one gets a dog for the first time. Questions I've never seen addressed anywhere else.
It'll be a boon to new dog owners and I definitely plan to recommend it via both Dog Star Daily and Open Paw.--Kelly Gorman Dunbar, DogStarDaily.com
I love this book... it defies classification and those are my favorite kinds of books. As the title implies, it’s written in the form of 100 questions broken down into different categories, so it can be used as a reference book. There’s a lot of really good information that a neophyte dog owner or even an experienced dog owner might want to go back to refer to.
The depth of knowledge put into this book really put set me back on my feet. In the Getting a Dog chapter, for example, you get some great information about the risks of getting a dog from puppy mills.
As a trainer, I went right into the Behavior and Bonding chapter and I’m really impressed at the amount of knowledge Edie took the time to assemble about trainers and how to select one. You’d be surprised at the number of professional journalists who don’t even know that the APDT exists. Edie not only took the trouble to find out that we exist but she went to one of our conferences and spoke to trainers and found out what we think about training issues. Kudos!
This is a book that belongs on the shelf of anybody involved with dogs in any capacity. It’s a fantastic, well-balanced book and it’s very entertaining.--Eric Goebelbecker, CPDT
