Norwegian dog trainer Turid Rugaas is a noted expert on canine body language, notably "calming signals" which are signals dogs give other dogs and humans that denote stress. These are dogs' attempt to defuse situations that otherwise might result in fights or aggression. The video shows footage of many calming signals, how dogs use them, and how you can use them to calm your dog. This is the video format and companion to the popular book, On Talking Terms with Dogs. Note - this is not a professionally filmed video rather one done by dedicated amateur dog people; however, it does a good job of illustrating the canine body language subjects it addresses.
-Become a keen observer of canine behavior at home, in the community and among dogs to get better behavior and build a solid relationship.
-Learn to identify situations that are stressful to your dog so that you can resolve or avoid them.
-Filmed by the author in lovely outdoor settings, see the signals in action while Turid narrates.

I personally owe Turid a great debt because her work validated my observations that dogs are trying very hard to talk to us. This book was my guide and added amazing volume to my knowledge base. Her book provided the confidence to continue watching and interpreting. What a lovely gift!
Brenda Aloff author of Aggression In Dogs and Canine Body Language, A Photographic Guide
This new revised edition is a must have! Even if you own the previous edition the photos and examples along with the writing are worth it. Turid has a wonderful gift of making everything so easy to understand and relate to (she has made) an enormous contribution to mankind in our ever-increasing knowledge of 'man's best friend' our dogs.

Even though this video was created several decades ago I still lend it out to client to learn the basics of canine body language. The video has plenty of video footage and clear explanation.

Quality & information presentation
This is a terrific DVD. Turid taught me so many new things to look for in my dog's behavior and now, we are communicating effortlessly. Entertaining too. I bought the 2nd edition book that augments it, too. It's terrific.
